Long-gone are the days when schoolwork research was conducted solely at the library and papers were either hand-written or typed up on the Smith-Corona. Now kids are producing videos, websites, and interactive presentations worthy of a CLIO award.
How can you make sure your kids are well equipped for the digital age, with all the necessary 21st Century Skills to thrive in college and beyond? Dwight-Englewood (D-E) a coeducational, independent school on 45 beautiful acres in Englewood, gives the highest quality preparation for college while fostering independent thinking.
With just 950 students total, D-E serves a seamless education experience for students in preschool through Grade 12. Comprised of three divisions (Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools) each with their own distinctive personality, D-E is the most ethnically diverse school in Bergen County with students who represent over 80 communities.
For all grades, teaching is interdisciplinary in approach and organized around projects and themes, and the development of social relationships and individual growth is valued at every stage. New this year for middle schoolers is a "Project Based Learning" model where students learn through projects that they create with the guidance of teachers, who provide broad questions as a starting point for inquiry. Students learn through research and develop projects for presentation; video, website, public service announcements and other mediums.
The best way to understand D-E’s unique approach, though, is to experience it firsthand. Their upcoming Open Houses offer the perfect opportunity.
