Dora the Explorer is usually pretty hard to track down because, well, she's busy exploring the world, of course. But North Jersey residents are in luck as the beloved adventurer and her cousin Diego have temporarily moved into the neighborhood, landing at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City as part of the Dora & Diego: Let’s Explore! exhibit.
The super cool interactive experience, which runs through January 24, 2016, lets kids delve into a plethora of new activities and adventures all in one action-packed day. They can don a spacesuit and navigate to the Purple Planet via rocket ship; try kid-sized bird and butterfly wings on for size; lend a hand at Diego’s Animal Rescue and First Aid Station; and flex their muscles in the Rainforest Maze while swinging on the Bobo Brothers’ monkey bars or climbing across Jaguar Mountain.
Best for kids between 3 and 6 years old, the experience mirrors the themes of the mega-successful Nickelodeon TV show, teaching little ones about animal conservation and caring for the environment as they engage in dynamic play surrounded by Dora and her pals. The best part for parents? Getting to watch their kids use their imaginations, try new things, and stay active for hours. (So make sure they wear their sneakers!)
And diehard Dora fans can meet the star in person as she'll be dropping by Liberty Science Center each day from 11am to 1pm during NJEA break, November 5-8. The meet and greet is free with admission.
Liberty Science Center is open Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday to Sunday, 9:00am to 5:30pm.
