Cutting-Edge Russian Virtual Reality Technology Sets Up Shop at Palisades Center

First Moscow, next ... West Nyack?

Yep. Russian-based virtual reality maker Hyperverse has chosen mega-mall Palisades Center as its first U.S. location and that means we’ll be getting access to some high-tech entertainment right in our own backyard. Located within the high-speed go-kart racing venue Autobahn Indoor Speedway & Events (which you’re probably more familiar with than you want to be), the Hyperverse experience brings together an Oculus VR headset with a VR backpack that allows participants to roam in their own physical environment while interacting in a virtual one. Since users aren’t tethered to anything, it creates an even more realistic experience for even the most been-there, done-that Virtual Reality fans.

The Hyperverse system has taken over a space within Autobahn that was previously used for birthday parties and events. It’s here kids can choose from Hyperverse’s multiple games including Insomnia, in which players must help a scientist to escape his own dream, fight the bad guys, and gain control of his own body to reenter his own physical realm (kind of trippy, we know.) On the other (read: less intense) end of the spectrum is a game called Rise of Cats, where players turn into cats in this parody of several ‘90s video games. Cats, ‘90s, and video games? Step aside, kids. We’re giving this thing a try ...
