A New Target is Coming to Closter Plaza in Bergen County, NJ

Wellness  /

Years ago, the thought of jetting off to Paris or lounging on a Caribbean beach for a week excited us the most. Times have changed just a little and, these days, it's the mere idea of a Target and a Whole Foods in the same shopping center that gets us all tingly. And that's exactly what we can't stop thinking about now that we know the lineup of retailers that'll be moving into what will be the completely revamped and gorgeous Closter Plaza. But wait, it gets better.

This isn't going to be just any Target (which, incidentally, will be opening its doors early next year). It's one of the company's new "flexible format" concepts. That means that the beloved retailer will be selling everything it normally does in a smaller space (though at 45,000 square feet, it's nothing to sneeze at), customizing offerings to what locals (um, that would be you) like to buy – from home goods and electronics to toys and sporting goods to all those clothes. Expect well-priced swimsuits for the kids (a summer must-have, for sure), awesome designer collaborations for you and plenty of accessories to top it all off. Throw in healthy grocery options with a good selection of ethnic foods and a pharmacy, and you might not need to set foot in another store ever.

Actually, scratch that. You'll definitely want to hit up the complex's other businesses – many of which, we're happy to report, will be opening later this year. Closter Plaza will also include the aforementioned Whole Foods Market (for when you want to splurge) and a Dollar Tree (for when you don't.) And don't forget a HomeGoods, nail salon, upscale barbershop, cycling studio, and dine-in movie theater, by the same chain that's opening up a location at the mega-mall American Dream at the Meadowlands. As for dinner options, there will be the organic burger and sandwich spot Bareburger and two super swanky concepts by celebrity chef Jose Garces: the Mexican-inspired Disitro and a bar/eatery called Whiskey Village, which, if you ask us, sounds like the perfect place to stop after a long day at Target.
