Where to Volunteer in Bergen

Sharing can be bad (hairbrushes, sippy cups, eyeliner), but it can also be great (toys, wealth, main courses).
Teach your kids what it means to share this holiday (in a good way) and give back this season.  We’ve got a few easy ways for your family to help those in need.

Habitat for Humanity
How you can help: Pitch in at any of their gift wrapping stations to help provide hard-working Bergen County families with affordable decent homes.
When: December 3rd through the 12th
Where: Locations vary, check website for exact dates and info.

Table to Table
How you can help: Participate in their Bag a Lunch program by donating what you would normally spend on a lunch and help a hungry family in need in Northern NJ.  Mobilize a team and they will provide you with a kit, posters and supplies to help even more.
When: Anytime, after you arrange it with the coordinator.
Where: Can be coordinated at any location.

Family Promise of Bergen
How you can help: Start your own group of 6-8 people to prepare and serve a meal to temporarily homeless families and individuals with the “Walk-In Program.” Meals must feed 140-150 people, inclusive of dining materials.
When: Now booking for early 2014.
Where: Various locations in and near Bergen.

Jewish Family Service
How you can help: Adopt-a-Bubbe is a teen (age 14 and up) volunteer program that provides weekly telephone reassurance calls to frail and homebound elders in Bergen County.
When: Call Jewish Family Service to set up a start date.
Where: From your home.

Center for Food Action
