Hey you over there with the half-eaten, full-sized Hershey bar, step away from the chocolate. The Great Pumpkin has left the building and Christmastime is here! Actually, you have another week to pillage your kid’s candy bag before it’s time to welcome the Big Guy back to Westfield Garden State Plaza for the official kickoff to the holiday season.
On Saturday, November 11th , from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, make plans to visit Westfield Garden State Plaza for the annual lighting of their beloved Big Santa. This year’s arrival of Westfield GSP’s iconic symbol of the holiday season is more spectacular than ever with a choreographed 200 drone show lighting up the sky, live musical performances, food trucks, including Johnny Zeppoli, Shake Shack, and NYC Mac Truck, and visits from Buddy the Elf, Elsa and Olaf. But of course, the VIP of the day is the real Santa Claus who will be taking a break from his hectic pre-holiday schedule to arrive in a fire truck escorted by the Paramus High School Marching Band. Admission is free to this event, but dress warmly and RSVP here.
After the outdoor festivities wrap up, grab a flyer and head inside to the mall for exclusive offers including a $25 gift card to dine at your choice of participating restaurants if you spend $1000 in any combination of participating shops. This is also your reminder to reserve your spot to get your photo taken with Santa. He’ll be back in his spot on Level 1 near Pandora beginning on Friday, November 10 th . He’ll be there every day through December 24 th from 11:00am – 7:00pm (with a short break to feed his reindeer from 3:00pm – 4:00pm daily).
Although every day is a jolly holiday when Santa is in the building, Westfield Garden State Plaza has arranged for some extra special events for the season. Pet Parties will be held each Monday from November 20 – December 11 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm, Baby’s First Santa Pics will be celebrated all day every Wednesday from November 22 – December 20, every Thursday from November 30 th – December 21 st is Ugly Sweater Day and every Tuesday from November 21 st until December 19 th is a Pajama Party in support of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
