Hot enough for ya? Well, if you can’t make it to the beach anytime soon to cool off, never fear. Westfield Garden State Plaza is bringing the beach to you. Just in time to celebrate the beginning of summer, on Friday, June 25th and Saturday, June 26th, visit the Hello, Sunshine event in the Level 2 Macy’s Court, near Shake Shack for some ocean-sized fun.
Your family will learn how islands are formed by underwater volcanoes and volunteers will make waves (and whirlpools) to illustrate the movement of ocean tides at three daily Mad Science shows full of surprises and ocean excitement. All students will receive an Anaglyph Sea Puzzle that lets kids discover underwater creatures in 3-D. On the flip side, a 9-piece lenticular puzzle brings the coral reef to life. The best part? No sunscreen required!
Then, from 2pm – 5pm, channel some weekend beach vibes with summer tunes spun by a local DJ and an immersive Summer Ocean Scene that’s the next best thing to being there. Be one of the first Westfield Rewards members to attend and receive a complimentary beach bag containing a scratch-and-win card with over 600 gift card giveaways from retailers including Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Beach bags are while supplies last. One bag per customer. Must be a Westfield Rewards member to qualify. Still need to register to be a Rewards member? Click here.
Proceeds from the Mad Science event will be donated to Oasis, a Haven for Women and Children in Paterson, NJ. Limit 100 families per Mad Science show. Shows will be held each day at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm. Register for Friday, June 25th here or Saturday, June 26th here.
Then, mark your calendar for Sunday, July 11th. Back by popular demand, the Empanada Extravaganza and Sangria Fest will be rolling into Garden State Plaza for one day only, 11am – 7pm. Local gourmet food vendors will be showcasing their unique takes on empanadas as well as tons of other yummy food options. You’ll enjoy live music, activities, games for the whole family, face painters and more. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-10 at the door. $6 for adults and $4 for children for tickets purchased in advance. Children 3 and under are free.
What’s left to say but, “Hello, Summer”! Glad you’re finally here!
