This Immersive NYC Exhibit Is Worth the Trip

Day Trips  /

It's hard to believe that summer is already halfway through, but that means that there's still a second half-worth of entertaining kids before school starts back up. Plus, the slow pace of summer makes it the ideal time to venture out of Bergen County's borders and hit up some seasonal exhibits that'll excite the kids. And there are few things that are sure to put a smile on their face than a simple balloon. Or in this case, literally hundreds of thousands of them.

Happening this summer only through August 24, Balloon Story in NYC is bringing an immersive wonderland of inflatables. The eco-friendly balloon art exhibit took over the Park Avenue Armory that's now overflowing with rooms filled with playful displays, biodegradable sculptures, and creative works of art. Head under the sea, venture into space, explore an animal kingdom, visit the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty, and more — and everything is created from more than 700,000 colorful balloons. Plus, you can find games and activities like an air-filled maze that will excite the senses.

But don't worry, it's not all "look but don't touch." Kids can also get hands-on fun making their way through the huge balloon pit. Plus, Wednesdays through Sundays from 10:30 am-4:30 pm, Crickets Candy Creations is making an appearance to let kids create their own balloon-themed candy works of art, craft the sweetest candy jewelry, and even get messy with edible fingerpaint where it's encouraged that they lick their fingers clean.

We don't mean to burst your bubble, but this eye-popping exhibit is temporary, so make sure to grab your tickets before poof! They're gone.
