One of the best gifts we can give our kids is a lifelong love of learning, which means providing them with opportunities to learn interesting information from accomplished educators and scholars. Academy After Hours, the full-day Academic Summer Camp at Bergen County Academies, provides exactly this experience for students with skills and abilities that fall within the middle school (grades 6-8) range who live in Bergen County and beyond.
At Academy After Hours Summer Camp, your student will be able to pursue advanced work in the sciences, humanities, mathematics, technology, visual, performing and culinary arts. Which means that not only will they have the chance to hone and improve academic skills they already have, they’ll also be able to challenge themselves by learning something completely new. Students select three classes for a total of six instructional hours per day. For those keeping track at home, that’s six hours a day when they won’t be glued to a screen of one variety or another.
For kids who like to argue or perform, Academy After Hours Summer Camp’s anticipated classes include: Mock Trial or Theater Improv, Stage Makeup, and Stage Combat that will allow them to gain a better understanding of the American legal system, or gain an appreciation for the hard work that goes into any stage performance. Creators will enjoy the Fashion Design and Sewing, Introduction to the Culinary Arts, and The Incredible Story! classes. Or, your student can decide that summer is a good time to learn a new language with classes in Spanish or Intro to Java and Python. Students who want to avoid the mathematics summer slide, or who want to brush up on the basics of writing a research essay will appreciate the head start on their coursework for next year in classes including: Math Counts Training Camp, Geometry, Applied Math/Deriving Math Equations, Non-Routine Problem Solving, and Formal Essay Writing MLA/Research. Or, they can stare productively into a screen with Intro the Web Development, 3D Printing, or Intro to Fusion 360 (CAD).
Registration for the Bergen County Academies Academy After Hours Summer Camp is now open. Classes will be held from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm daily from July 8th through July 19th. Enrollment is $1350 and courses are designed for an optimal student-to-teacherratio, and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
