Summer Camp for Toddlers in Bergen County Just Got Real(ly Fun)

Camps  /

Warm weather got you thinking of summer? Don’t forget to register the kids for camp! Your little ones ages 2 to 5 will have the time of their lives at Temple Sinai’s 8-week summer camp, featuring both indoor and outdoor fun. Camp begins June 25 and runs through August 17.

Preschoolers love the recently updated playgrounds, water play fountains and trips to the park and nature center, but the air-conditioned classrooms are the perfect respite from the hot summer sun. There, the warm and nurturing teachers supervise fun activities like music and puppet shows. Shabbat celebrations continue during the summer on Fridays with the clergy.

Temple Sinai’s Early Childhood Center (ECC) has been a strong presence in the Tenafly and Englewood communities for over 40 years. The school prides itself on its National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation, which ensures that they adhere to the strictest measures of health, safety, and security in their facility. They take a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach to learning, valuing the interests of the children. The curriculum during the school year includes weekly specials in sports, music, and yoga. They also offer after-school enrichment classes for 3s and 4s, including ceramics, woodworking, dance, tennis, art, and soccer.

The school offers a very strong Jewish curriculum throughout the year.  A large component of the program for all ages is Shabbat and holiday celebrations. The kids bake challah in school, visit Cantor Nitza in the sanctuary for singing and enjoy visits from Rabbi Millstein who reads to the children on Fridays. Their monthly Tot Shabbat services with birthday blessings are a big hit with ECC families. Tzedakah and doing mitzvot are an integral part of the school.

ECC’s active parent association plans activities throughout the year to raise funds to enhance the curriculum. They also promote community among ECC families through special events such as a Welcome Barbeque, Couple’s Schmooze, Mom’s Night Out, a Winter Show, end of year Carnival and more. Their fundraising events such as a boutique and book fair enable the school to offer activities such as a Petting Zoo, Fun Bus, Health Week, Safely Week and a visit from an Ice Cream truck for the children to enjoy.
