Once upon a time there was a jewel box of a space on Piermont Road in Cresskill. It was two cozy rooms with a brick oven and big windows on a busy street. Year after year this space changed tenants… TW’s, Ciao Bella Trattoria, until finally something very exciting happened here:
Spasso took it over.
Spasso calls itself an Italian bistro and that’s exactly what it is. More upscale than a typical pizza joint but still casual enough to take the whole family if you want. They have a kids menu and delivery, but the huge striped banquets, Sinatra on the turntable and the hunks of parm and breadsticks doled out upon arrival make you feel like you are out for a night on the town. Yummy salads, pastas, brick oven pizza and a bunch of standard Italian dishes fill the menu. Right now they are B.Y.O.B. so remember to bring a bottle if you want to unwind with a glass of white or red.
Oh, and don’t forget to sample the house made cannolis before you depart. Now that’s what we call “happily every after”.
