Luminocity Festival in NYC Brightens Up The Holidays

Whether you're an art enthusiast, your kids love holiday lights, or you need a way to keep the whole family entertained this season, you're in luck. The Luminocity Festival on Randall’s Island brings holiday magic that will dazzle everyone, with its glowing life-like installations that span 12 acres.

Billed as “an immersive wonderment of light,” this interactive, frozen (literally!) world of blue and white transports visitors to the very top of the world on a crystal-clear winter night to experience mountains of glistening snow, brilliant trees stretching up into the darkness. and spectacular castles towering above the terrain. With over half a dozen over-the-top LED-lit landscapes (not to mention a breathtaking waterfall, a hair-raising T-rex, precious panda bears,  bushels of giant-sized mushrooms, and lots more), it’s literally the kingdom of Arandelle come to life!

Here are just a few of the many bright spots at this family-fun destination:

The Skating Unicorn: Standing 13 feet tall and covered in LED lights, this spectacular steed is dripping with multi-star decorations that glisten over blue and purple satin with smaller blinking acrylic balls decorating the surrounding ground.

The Castle in the Clouds: Decorated with multi-star LED lights that flicker between hues of blue and purple, this GIGANTIC castle nestled in a bed of clouds invites visitors to climb around amongst the slew of interactive lighting elements.

The Frosted Forest: Jaws will surely drop after witnessing this delightful dozen of ice-covered trees, each covered by blinking LED icicles and snowflakes that create a shimmering meteor shower effect. Expect to hear more than a few acapella renditions of “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?"

The Frosted Christmas Tree: Five magnificent frosted Christmas trees, the tallest soaring over 39 feet above the ground, decorate this Insta-worthy winter wonderland.

Before you head back to reality, be sure to swing by the Holiday Market to stock up on all kinds of wrap-worthy gifts, and warm up and refuel at one or more of the yummy on-site food trucks from the likes of Twisted Potato, Brownie Bar, Sam’s Fried Ice Cream, and more.

Luminocity Festival is open November 23-January 5, 4-11 pm daily.
