Looking for entertainment that the whole family can enjoy? Presented in the Shea Center for Performing Arts and Hunziker Black Box Theatre at William Paterson University, WP Presents! offers a wide variety of engaging live kids shows.
Family performances include free pre-show craft activities like mask making, puppets, magnets, and picture frames, all themed according to the show. After each performance, kids can meet the cast for an autograph and picture session. They also present eclectic music concerts and original theatre productions for the general public, including the Jazz Room Series and New Jersey Playwrights Contest.
Spring WP Presents! 2015 highlights include: ArcAttack, Mitch Albom, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, The Doo Wop Project, Glen Burtnik’s Summer of Love, Imagination Movers: Meet the Movers, and Lizard of Oz.
WP Presents! continues their commitment to children on the autism spectrum with the Theater for Children with Autism series. This spring’s sensory-friendly production features Skippyjon Jones, based on the book by Judy Schacher, on April 17.
Also be on the lookout for smaller series like the Onstage Café at Shea, with intimate concerts where patrons can sit onstage and enjoy a dinner and dessert buffet plus an open beer-and-wine bar; and the Musical Salon Series, an afternoon of chamber music in the historical Hobart Manor on William Paterson’s main campus. The next Onstage Café at Shea happens on April 10 with Amy Helm (daughter of Levon Helm) and The Handsome Strangers, featuring a first set by the Americana roots band, Yarn. The Musical Salon Series continues on April 19 with the Tryon Trio.
