Learn To Live Healthy (dedicated)

Camps  /

Oh, how we have loved the slower pace, relaxed schedule, and informal eating that comes with summer break. And though we’re not here to remind you that fall is right around the corner…*whispers loudly* fall is right around the corner. Which means it is time, once again, to start thinking about the foods that will fuel little brains and bodies once the whirlwind of school and activities starts again. Luckily for you, HealthBarn USA in Ridgewood, New Jersey never stopped thinking about healthy foods and fall is the perfect time for them to share what they know with you and your kids.

Since back-to-school time also sort of feels like a second New Year, it can be the perfect time to set routines and commit to the good-for-you habits that can lead to a happy and healthy school year for the whole family. At HealthBarn, your children, ages 3-15, can take age appropriate classes that give them hands-on experience in the on- site organic garden during the peak of harvest season. Then, they’ll learn how to turn their garden haul into delicious snacks and meals. Because if there’s one thing the culinary and nutrition experts at HealthBarn have learned in their 20 years of educating families about how to live a healthy lifestyle, it’s that empowering children to take control of their nutrition choices by sharpening their culinary skills is the best way to ensure that they create lifelong healthy eating habits.

Classes for seedlings (ages 3-5), sprouts (ages 5-7), pollinators (mixed ages), harvesters (ages 8-12), and master chefs (ages 12+) will give kids the chance to experience gardening and preparing food as a team activity where they will work together to harvest, clean, and cook. They will learn invaluable, lifelong kitchen and food preparation skills, and will have the opportunity to participate in the food cycle in an up close and personal way. Parents of children who have participated in HealthBarn classes or programs report that their children are far more curious and adventurous with their health, nutrition and veggie consumption because of the programs.

Fall 2024 registration is now open for weekly classes beginning the week of September 9th . Please visit the website for more information and to register for classes. Space is limited and classes fill up quickly. HealthBarn also offers camps during school breaks and vacations, birthday parties, and special programming for student groups. Enjoy these last days of summer and know that HealthBarn is ready to feed your body, mind and spirit this fall!
