Last season you were guzzling down Hot Toddies and flasks of whatever at the soccer fields. Step up your game and make this Spring a bit more, ahem, selective by exploring and enjoying free wine at the wineries of New Jersey.
Yes, our Garden State has been quite busy in the grape growing business over the past few years. Local Jersey vineyards are on the rise with locations (50 to be exact) throughout the state offering everything from the obvious tours and tastings to musical evenings and yoga at sunrise amongst the vines. And if you want to talk about actual vintages, Jersey has been producing some quality award winning Chardonnays and Cabernet Francs and in the Northern part of the state Pinot Noirs, Reislings and Syrahs.
How to know where to imbibe? Well the Garden State Wine Growers Association has made it uber simple with a full calendar and vineyard deets on their website as well as on their newish app so you can have that next tasting right at your fingertips.
And even better news is that this weekend, in honor of all the moms who need love their wine, the association is hosting one of their special Wine Trails Weekends, with events at vineyards all over the state, including glasses of free wine for mom. Picnic and vibe to live music at the gorgeous Four Sisters Winery, enjoy free Rose, chocolates and a picnic at the pretty Natali Vineyards down by Cape May, or head over to sample the food trucks after a wagon tour among the vines at nearby Laurita Vineyards.
We'll toast to that!
