Dwight Englewood Summer Connections’ program engages learners in the joy of discovery through a variety of experiences. Summer Connections offers a rich breadth of courses which can give an introduction, a chance to hone skills, or a brand new discipline. Youngest campers weave weekly themes into activities like cooking, water play, Spanish and Music. Older campers choose from a jam-packed schedule of offerings like Debate, Web Design, and Watercolors or newer options such as Stained Glass, Science Medley, Cheftastic, Zentangles, 3D Printing, and Beatles Guitar Camp. Alternative learning is also emphasized by using technology or different settings such as the Nature Sanctuary or a different country. The program offers a flexible environment that allows students to design their discovery based on individual needs and desires. (315 E. Zoo Camp at the Bergen County Zoo: This “always booked” local program is open to residents and members ages 5 to 15 only for half day week long sessions where kids work in and explore the zoo with qualified educators and staff. Older campers will walk in the shoes of actual zookeepers while they prepare animals’ daily diets, learn about collection and clean out their cages. APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MARCH 1ST and accepted applicants will be notified via mail by April 20th. Liberty Science Center Camp: At the largest science center in the tri-state area, rising 4th through 7th graders can delve into subjects they simply cannot cover in a regular school year. Programs in topics like marine biology and biodiversity, robotics, music, food chemistry, computer science, and engineering take place throughout the 12 exhibition halls and in their working laboratories. Chef Central Teen Cooking Camp: Campers explore exciting themes and regions like Latin Cuisine, Asian Cuisine and The Bread Shop, by creating dishes with expert chefs while learning cooking techniques.
