Coming This September: Prep for Success at The Academy of Holy Angels Middle School [dedicated]

Schools  /

The Academy of the Holy Angels isn’t just for high school students anymore! This September, AHA Middle School will welcome girls in Grades 6, 7, and 8. AHA Middle School renews the Holy Angels tradition of educating young girls, and no construction crews had to move a muscle. The school will be located on the first floor of Kelleher Hall, a light, bright, newly renovated educational space.

AHA Middle School is all about inspiring young women to cultivate a life-long love of learning and empowering them to navigate the challenges of adolescence, find their voice, and share their unique gifts as they prep for success in high school.

“We recognize the need exists to provide middle school students with a comprehensive program to prepare them for high school,” AHA President Melinda A. Hanlon noted. “We are poised to provide the strong foundation needed for success in high school and help students close any gaps in learning. All-girl education provides girls with every opportunity and AHA Middle School will be a place where girls take the lead.”

AHA Middle School Dean Traci Koval and her faculty will offer a customized, affordable educational experience that includes a firm foundation in core subjects. Middle school students will also explore their individual interests, including STEM and the fine and performing arts.

All are welcome! Yes, AHA is a Catholic school; however, the Academy serves young women from many cultural and religious backgrounds.

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, AHA strives to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academics, character, moral integrity, and service.

After completing their years at AHA Middle School, students will be well prepared for the rigorous courses offered at the high school.  From there, Angels truly live the SSND mission of transforming the world through education. Students renovate homes in Appalachia, study at Oxford, and supply a food bank with produce grown in AHA’s greenhouse. Many graduates go on to the nation’s best colleges and universities and earn top posts in various careers rooted in AHA’s award-winning, nationally recognized STREAM (think STEM plus religion and art) curriculum.
