What: Yo-Tiki with Garden State Yoga (FREE!)
Why: Find your center at this outdoor Hawaian-themed block party (oops, we meant yoga class).
When: Thursday, July 11, 7:30-8:30, bring a mat, towel and water.

What:   The Great Duck Derby Day in Ridgewood
Why: The beach comes to you- Sandcastle Contest, Beach Games, Music and BBQ. 
When: Sunday, July 14th (rain date is 7/21), from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m

What: The Anniversary of the Storming of Stony Point
Why:  History buffs will be transported back to the 18th century with reenactments in a mini-village with demos and performances to simulate that time period.
When: Sat, July 13th and Sun, July 14th, 11am to 4pm, FREE!
Where: Stony Point State Historic Site, NY

What: Seaglass Hunt Guided Hike
Why: 1 mile of hidden treasure collecting.  BYOP (bring your own pail)
When: Saturday, July 13th, 10:30am – 12:00pm, FREE! Parking $5
Where: Alpine Picnic Area & Boat Basin (Alpine park entrance/PIP Exit 2).

What:   Franklin Lakes Movies Under the Stars
Why: Your fam, a blanket and “Life of Pi” on the big screen.
When: Wednesday, July 17th, 8:00pm open, movie begins at 8:30pm
Where: Franklin Lakes Municipal Field, Borough Hall, DeKorte Drive

If you’re heading into the city….

What: MLB All-Star Fanfest 2013
Why: Sluggers of all ages mingle with top players, coaches and managers while they brush up on skills at the “mini-diamond” or batting cages.  Then hit one of two exhibition games at Citifield Sunday, July 14th. 
When: July 12th through the 16th

What: Children’s Sail Along the Hudson
Why: Children ages 5 through 12 and their ‘rents will love the lessons about Hudson River water-life tought by TNC director Jennifer Kleinbaum
When: Friday, July 19th 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM, $75 for an adult/child pair, advance registration required.
Where:  Departs from Alpine Boat Basin and travels to Liberty State Park, Round Trip

What: NJPac Family Fair
Why: FREE open-air events for you and your brood- think liver performances, drum circles, stilt walkers, face painters and more!
When: Saturday, July 27th at 2pm
Where: New Jersey Performing Arts Center, 1 Center Street, Newark

What:   BOOK AHEAD: Dozin’ with the Dinos at Field Station Dinosaurs
Why: They’re cuddly (no seriously) and fascinating.  Sleep over at Field Station Dinos for the extreme dino experience, including movies, lantern lit tours, smores and campfires.
When: Saturday, August 10, 8:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m., $75 pp, cots and tents provided
