Ridgewood moms in the know have been sportin’ lifted seats, flat abs, and elongated thighs for the past year now, so our in house fitness guru Helaine Kay felt compelled to check out the scene over at the buzzed about Bar Method Ridgewood.
Here’s what she loved:
1. This workout is all about little subtle movements that burn and build muscle. Yes, you will perspire (slightly) but you won’t be dripping when you leave and you can go on with your day. (Helaine actually went on to serve lunch at her kid’s school and looked “totally presentable”).
2. The cool, modern environment is sleek, “zen” and super clean. Plus it boasts a full locker room with bathrooms, showers, and a boutique with “bar wear”. And, wait for it.. they have CHILDCARE! So you don’t have to worry about snagging a sitter to hit this studio.
3. After three different classes, with three different instructors (owner Carolyn Norden, Rachel and Vanessa), we can comfortably say that the style of class is not only intense, but that the teachers were all informative, inspiring and motivating. Plus very personal, because they seem to know each client by name and will give clients one-on-one attention if needed.
4. Oh, and did we mention the ample parking?
Class options include Beginner Bar Basics which helps newbies get the movements down, a mixed class that runs at a quicker more intense pace and a complimentary community class taught by a Bar Method trainee.
$25 per class, new client special, $125 for 30 days of unlimited use
