Why We Love Nursery School at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades (dedicated)

Schools  /

It all starts with a question – why is the sky blue? What happens when I stack one block on top of another? What sound does this round object make? Children are an encyclopedia of questions and the Nursery School at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is where those questions are cherished and welcomed! In fact, their curriculum is based around questions. Each child’s passions and talents are nurtured, each child is empowered to make decisions, and each child is motivated and engaged, which all leads to the love of learning. Why is that so important? Current research suggests that child-centered learning helps deepen a child’s understanding of information that goes far beyond memorizing facts and content. It enables students to take ownership over their education and become successful learners for a lifetime.

At the Kaplen JCC Nursery School, learning goes far beyond the classroom. Children (and parents too!) have access to the entire JCC facility! Children will play in the gym, have fun on the playgrounds, swim throughout the school year in the indoor swimming pool, and make lots of yummy food in the teaching kitchen made just the right height for your little one. Plus the whole nursery school experience is rooted in Jewish values where kids enjoy weekly Shabbat celebrations and learning about Jewish holidays. Children will also enjoy the arts and even form friendships with senior “grandfriends” who visit classrooms to do fun activities with them. And what’s even more exciting is that they are opening up the nursery school to children as young as 3 months starting in September! That’s right, their new infant program will offer care for babies in a bright, clean space with low caregiver-to-child ratios.

The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Nursery School has a variety of school options to meet any family’s needs from half-day to full-day classes to extended day that runs from 7:30am to 6pm (a great option for working parents).

Space for these programs, especially the new infant care, is limited so get in touch ASAP before you have to add your name to another waiting list.
