Get Amazed At The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum

Attention all fans, big and small, of the entertaining, smart, funny and timeless Dr. Seuss. The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum is now officially open.

You’ve probably read Green Eggs and Ham a million times from front to back and maybe a few times, because your child begged for it, from back to front. Maybe you’re pretty sure that Thing One and Thing Two are lost in your house, raising havoc. As a parent or even a human in this world, it’s hard not to know and love Dr. Seuss and his work.

The good news is that earlier this summer the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum opened just a few hours’ drive from Bergen County, NJ, in his hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts. It all starts at the entrance with a blue Seussian archway that leads you into the first floor where some of his most popular stories come to life. There are statues all around and paintings on the walls of some of his most popular characters—the Lorax, some Things, Horton and even the big cat. You want to sit on a Seven Hump Wump? This is your chance! It’s just not something that’s going to happen anywhere else.

The second floor is a recreation of Dr. Seuss’ living room with the furniture and art materials he used to create his characters, stories, illustrations and books. And the exhibit wraps up in the Cat’s Corner in the basement where Seuss educators help kids do arts and craft projects, read and watch puppet shows.

Extend your experience even more with a Seuss character breakfast, held every Wednesday at 9 a.m. through August 9. Meet the Cat in the Hat and his zany sidekicks Thing 1 and Thing 2 while you enjoy tasty treats from the Blake House Cafe. Following breakfast in the Wood Museum, explore the new Dr. Seuss Museum at 10 a.m. Registration is required, and your breakfast fee ($23-$35) includes general museum admission.

If you don't sign up for the breakfast, consider reserving your museum ticket in advance because their timed ticket system limits admissions to no more than 200 people at once. The good news is that you can take as much time as you want. Enjoy your special moment with the Cat in the Hat. There’s no shame in it, and there’s absolutely no rush.
