Special Needs Kids in NJ get a Night to Shine

Activities  /

Four years ago, the Tim Tebow Foundation started an event called Night to Shine. The vision of this event was to give people with special needs (ages 14 and up) an unforgettable prom night experience centered on God’s love.

The plan? Partner with religious organizations and volunteers world wide to sponsor and run the events locally. Then provide partners with a planning manual, a toolkit that included decorations and favors, personalized guidance and support from a Tim Tebow Foundation staff member and, if needed, financial support and assistance in order to host this unforgettable event.

Fast forward to 2018 and the event has grown into a movement with more than 175,000 volunteers from 540 religious organizations worldwide serving over 90,000 guests simultaneously on the night of Friday, February 9th, 2018.

On Prom Night, each attendee will be greeted on the red carpet by friendly crowds and paparazzi. Once inside, guests will receive corsages and boutonnieres and prom favors. They can participate in limo rides, have their hair and makeup done, get their shoes shined, have a professional photo taken to commemorate the event, sing karaoke, and dance. After the catered dinner, each guest will be crowned a queen or king of the prom.  Plus, parents and caregivers will have their own Respite Room to take a quiet moment for themselves.

Know someone who needs to attend this event? You’re in luck!
