See the Sistine Chapel at Westfield’s Garden State Plaza

Who says going to the mall can’t be a cultural experience? Westfield’s Garden State Plaza has unveiled the exhibit Up Close: Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, featuring original-size, museum-quality reproductions of the same frescoes the renowned Renaissance artist painted for the Sistine Chapel in Rome.

The fact that the exhibit—which is set up in a giant, climate-controlled tent in the West Parking Lot between Neiman Marcus and Lord & Taylor—is even here is a pretty big deal. It was on display at The Oculus at the World Trade Center earlier this summer, and GSP will be the only New Jersey stop on its cross-country tour (it heads to L.A. next), so you should really make sure you order tickets now and get your Renaissance art fix before it moves on after October 15.

Afterwards, grab some pasta at the food court, and tell the kids you took them to Rome. Well, at least it’s an excuse to eat pasta.
