Dana’s Bakery Comes to Bergen County NJ

Activities  /

Your teens may already be marvelous musicians, super sports stars, or amazing artists, but it's about time to teach them a new skill they can really put to good use at home … macaron making.

Pastry chef Dana Loia has become a bit of a confection celebrity thanks to her successful Bergen County-based Dana's Bakery, which has been churning out fun French macarons in creative flavors ranging from S'mores to Thin Mint for the last four years. Now that she's expanded her business and moved her production facility from Hawthorne to a larger space in Hackensack, she's adding classes to the mix too- perfect for a GNO, teen birthday or for any occasion really.

During her Macarons 101 classes, Loia shares a bit of history about the magnificent macaron and teaches participants how to make their very own batch of 36 which they get to take home along with a bunch of original recipes. There are also occasional couples classes if you're looking for a sweet (!) new date night activity. Oh, and if you want to make your own at home without taking the class (we admit, we love a sugary shortcut too), Loia also sells macaron-making kits in some of her signature whimsical flavors including Fruity Cereal, Red Velvet, and Chocolate Molten. Your next school bake school just got a little more interesting …
