Cresskill’s New Wellness Shop Crush’d Garage : 5 Top Must-Haves

Wellness  /

When Bergen County mamas Alanna Davis, Jodi Salob, and Corey Taylor met through the nine kids they have between them a few years ago, they confessed to girl crushing on each other right away. But the three didn’t just become BFFs ... they also became business partners, recently opening Crush’d Garage, a health, beauty, and wellness marketplace in Cresskill.

“The garage aspect is kind of like our body shop. We wanted to create a beautiful space where people could experience everything in the wellness world,” says Salob. The result is a shop chock full of hot products that are cruelty-free, all-natural, and mostly organic where locals can poke around while grabbing a juice or elixir. And the ladies are currently amping up their wellness-focused programming, bringing in experts like nutritionists and fitness trainers to share tips onsite. “We’re filling a void. There is nothing like this in the area,” says Salob. “People have been pleasantly surprised.” And since the power of plants is super important to the trio (Taylor runs the popular Instagram account The Vegan Six, documenting her family’s vegan lifestyle), the shop boasts a live wall, growing peace lilies and other plants in the middle of the space.

Here, the ladies share Crush’d Garage’s top five beauty and wellness picks.

Cold-Pressed Juice from Juice Basin
Created by a couple in Asbury Park, the mom-and-pop juice company was the first in the state of New Jersey to become USDA-certified organic. It delivers a line of co-labeled juices daily to Crush’d, where the store also offers customizable cleanses.

Native Deodorant
We know what you’re thinking: I want to love an all-natural deodorant, but I always hate it. They get it. “We’ve tried so many of them,” says Salob, “and this is like a real deodorant. They offer some amazing scents, too.” This deodorant is completely free of aluminum (which, depending on who you talk to, can be linked to various diseases including cancer) and touts “ingredients you understand” like coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter.

Joanna Vargas Face Masks
The sheet masks – created by the founder of the bi-coastal day spa, Joanna Vargas Salon –pretty much work magic. “It’s like bringing the spa to you,” says Salob. “They’re just easy, on-the-go pick me up for your face.” The Crush’d Garage gals’ faves? Forever Glow, an anti-aging mask targeting fine lines and wrinkles, and the Eden Instant Lift Mask, meant to give you a quick infusion of advanced hydration.

Odacite Youthful Glow Serum
After the Paris-born, LA-based Valerie Grandury was diagnosed with breast cancer, she decided to remove every toxin she could from her life, a process that eventually led her to create this luxe-meets-green skincare line the West Coast has been going gaga over for a while now. This particular facial serum, made from natural beauty powerhouses acai and roses, is an especially hot product since it combats all aspects of aging skin including wrinkles, firmness, tone, and texture.

Kids’ Stuff from Tubby Todd Bath Co.
The women behind Crush’d Garage want to make it clear that their shop is also kid- (and pet!) friendly and is stocked with cool stuff for both. The Tubby Todd bath line is free of toxins, parabens, sulfates, preservatives, and BPA and offers everything from sweet quince-and-honeysuckle bubble bath to lavender-rosemary hair and body wash, all safe for little ones’ super-sensitive skin.
