Closter Plaza Update: New Restaurants, Fitness and More

Restaurants  /

We know you know about the new Whole Foods that just opened at Closter Plaza. (And if somehow missed that news and haven't experienced it for yourself yet, just get in the car now and go. Trust us.) And you've probably also heard about the Target that’s set to open TOMORROW! (because if you're like us, you keep track of every Target within a 100-mile radius). But there's plenty else going in the 16-acre revamped retail center that's going to change your life. Think we're overstating it? Well, between all of the new businesses opening onsite, you'll be able to mix up your workout routine, grab lunch on the go, get a blowout, have a dinner-and-a-movie date night, and grab drinks with the girls all in one place (but not necessarily at the same time.) Here, the breakdown of what's opening  … and where you'll be able to find us all next year.

Distrito: No mediocre Mexican food here. Iron Chef Jose Garces' menu at this outpost of his Philadelphia stalwart will be full of fun dishes like mix-and-match taco plates, ceviches, and quinoa-kale enchiladas along with an array of creative tequila cocktails and margaritas.

Village Whiskey: You may say you're not a whiskey gal, but you very well may be one by the time you leave Garces' other spot here, which offers a whopping 200 different types. You're sure to find one you like to go with the retro all-day snacky menu here, with offerings ranging from raw oysters to duck fat fries to deviled eggs.

Bareburger: You don't want to buy your kids fast food, but on nights where you have zero time and they're begging for a burger with fries, what's the alternative?  Actually, it's now this place that slings fresh, organic, all-natural burgers along with locally-sourced toppings and even gluten-free buns and vegan cheese.

Chipotle – Yes, you've been to Chipotle a million times, and it's quite not as exciting as all of the above, but you'll be able to tell the gal behind the counter that you want a salad-with-chicken-pinto beans-corn salsa-no sour cream-and-add guacamole in three seconds flat.

The Bar Method:  If you haven't yet jumped on the barre bandwagon (or if you live too far from their Englewood studio), you can finally try the trendy, fast-paced full-body interval workout here, where you'll slim, sculpt and strengthen … all just yards from a burger place.

Cyclebar:  The fastest-growing cycling franchise in the country doesn't require a membership so you can simply pay as you go. The high-energy classes feature 50 bikes, LED lighting, great graphics, and state-of-the-art audio with a DJ booth.

Orangetheory Fitness: This is one fitness center that pretty much guarantees you won't get bored. Each location offers tons of different classes, and you can mix up what you take every day if you like. If you're starting out slow, you can just do a four-session-a-month membership or go big and get the unlimited.

Cinemex: A movie night where someone brings you dinner, wine, and popcorn so you don't have to get up? Thanks to this fancy-feeling Mexico City-based chain, you'll never revert back to a regular old movie theater again.

Lovella Salon – This beloved New York salon is a favorite for blow drys, but you can also get all of your salon services here – from cuts to color to Keratin straightening to extensions. And it's the perfect place to kill some time before that movie …
