Take it from us, if you’ve got a kid who likes to perform, they’re not going to stop just because it’s summer. So, instead of asking them again to please stop tap dancing in the kitchen, help them hone those skills with one of the varieties of summer programs offering opportunities in music, dance or theater at The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC.
The Performing Arts School offers multiple sessions during July and August for all ages and levels of study. All classes and workshops are taught by master teaching artists with professional credentials and most programs include a performance at the end of the session showcasing the students’ achievements for friends and family.

Musical Theater Camp
If all the world’s a stage for your child, sign them up for Musical Theater Camp. Featuring theater games, dance choreography, vocal instruction, visual arts and acting direction (including acting the song), this three-week intensive program offered to children ages 5-12 in both July and August provides true “triple threat” training in acting, dancing and singing. The final showcase on the bergenPAC main stage will make every child feel like a star!
Open Dance Classes
Your dancer achieved so much during the school year, it would be a shame if they forgot what they learned during the summer. Keep their dancing feet nimble with open dance classes. Students can keep their skills sharp by taking one or up to seven classes per week for up to seven weeks. Classes are for beginner and intermediate level dancers.
Dance Intensives
For dancers who wish to improve their technical abilities or gain more confidence, The Performing Arts School will offer two 2-week dance intensives for dancers ages 10-17 in July and August. Led by Artistic Director, Roberta Mathes and taught by the school’s professional faculty and guest artists from New York City, classes will be offered in ballet, contemporary/improv, modern jazz and Ethnic or African dance. Students not currently enrolled in The Performing Arts School will be asked to attend a placement class prior to June. Interested students should contact The Performing Arts School.
Early Childhood Music
Can’t keep your littlest one from singing? This early childhood music program is geared towards kids ages 3 months to 4 ½ years and provides developmentally appropriate, 45-minute music classes with a mix of traditional and contemporary songs from around the world for infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers.
