bergenPAC’s Music, Theater, and Dance Classes and More! (dedicated)

Activities  /

Back-to-school time usually means a packed couple of weeks between shopping for supplies, figuring out schedules, getting to know new teachers,  signing up for sports, and oh, yeah, actually going to school. But hopefully you can squeeze in some time for your kids to get a taste of the spotlight at bergenPAC's Performing Arts School's music classes, dance classes and theater programs this fall, too.

The Englewood-based theater is about to kick off its Focus on Fall programs and is giving parents and kids a chance to check out all of the cool classes it has to offer during a two-day Open House. Running September 7-8, the open house will feature (free!) trial classes from the theater's wide variety of disciplines, along with activities including face painting, a coloring contest, drawings to win prizes and performance tickets, and, of course, snacks! Walk-ins are welcome or you can pre-register here to secure your kids a spot.

And the programs are as varied as the kiddos themselves with classes tailored to specific age groups and levels, including a program for children with special needs. Music classes focus on music theory as well as jazz while the beyondDANCE program, under the direction of New York choreographer Roberta Mathes, teaches everything from classical ballet to hip hop to tap. As for the impressive theater education programs, younger kids can get introduced to drama through acting games and lessons in technique, while teens can take their love of acting further with improv, monologues, and scene work. There are also multiple musical theater programs for kids 7 to 18, and most of the acting-related classes culminate in performances at the end of the semester.

Bravo!
