A Summer Camp for Learning AND Fun: D-E Summer Connections (dedicated)

Camps  /

Summer. A time when kids can slow down, try something new, pursue a passion or explore a curiosity. A time when they can feel free to learn boldly. Dwight-Englewood School’s 360° Summer Connections summer camp in Bergen County has been offering kids, preschool through grade 12 the opportunity to do this and more for over 15 years.

For the youngest campers, the Summer Connections Discoveries and Adventures program offers age appropriate activities designed for observance and discovery. This year’s theme, “Passports Around the World” will allow campers to learn about life in Africa, Asia, Australia and more through interactive lessons and enrichment experiences in academics and the arts designed to make learning feel like it is all fun and games. A balance of indoor and outdoor activities, spirit days, color wars and scavenger hunts keep kids active all day while fostering independence and creativity. Half-day options are available for preschoolers and snacks and “hot” lunches are provided daily.

For campers entering the 5th grade and up, the a la carte Enrichment program offers a modular program designed to motivate learners in all grades to pursue personal interests, explore new subjects and strengthen academic skills. Enrichment sessions are approximately 2 hours each and can be mixed and matched to accommodate each student’s interests. Immersive programs are offered for longer periods and provide experiential learning in close collaboration with master faculty for 1 or 2 weeks. 2018 Immersive courses include a STEM Challenge and Coding with Raspberry Pi, explosive science, athletics, and arts.

Five-week Academic Enrichment classes can be paired with Enrichment sessions to give students extra help or a leg up in academic subjects like math, writing, English, coding and app development. Some courses also provide academic credit for grades 6-12.

All programs are held on the beautiful 45+ acre campus of Dwight-Englewood School, just minutes from the GWB.
